I was born on the 6th May 1975, and my main education (1986-1993) was at King Edward VI Five Ways Grammar School which has changed somewhat since I finished the upper sixth in 1993... I then wasted a year at Aston University as leturers who, in the main, were up to date with computer theory from the 1960s and no later, tried to teach "Computing Science" to 90 of us who all wondered whether they had ever seen anything with an actual Microprocessor in it... For heavens sake our graphics lecturer didn't know what a JPEG was! Unfortunately, I suffered a lot of memory loss due to a head trauma some years ago and I cannot recall virtually anything before my GCSE exams in 1991, but of late a few bits of memory has started to come back from my time at Five Ways and the schools I went to beforehand (St. Peters Junior, Harborne, B'ham, Four Dwellings Infants & Four Dwellings Junior, Quinton), and I am trying to get back as many of the memories as I can. Things are also a bit patchy at times after '91, and for some reason I cannot remember very much from a few events I went to such as T'Kon, and Supernova in Manchester (in 1999 I think), so if you know me from there, also, please get in touch, especially if you have any pictures of me! Since then I have not been far away from computing. Indeed my first job was signifcantly prior to this as I was a sales person at Lewis's Department Store in Birmingham City Centre, selling A500 Screen Gems packs over Christmas 1990. I had also held positions following that at the Mr. Disk authroised Commodore dealer in Birmingham City Centre and Future Zone, also in Birmingham (Future Zone would go on to become Electronics Boutique UK, which would then buy their main rival, Game and use their name, as EB USA wanted to get more money and have more control). After leaving uni, I landed a full time job as Senior Sales consultant at Calculus Computer stores, in Sutton Coldfield. We were all waiting for Commodore International to be sold to the Commodore UK management team, but just as EsCom, of all people, took the auction, Calculus and ZCL went under as they were basically reliant on the Amiga. I then returned to Future Zone as it was becoming EB UK and I continued working in the field for some time, including being a Games Buyer at HMV. I currently work at Wilkinsons Hardware Stores and do other things like the regular Amiga Mart column I have been doing weekly for Micro Mart since 1999 and series' of articles on TransFormers in Model & Collectors Mart plus also my work as co-ordinator at the non-profit making organisation, Infinite Frontiers and especially our "for charity" annual TransFormers convention, Auto Assembly.
